This item is a very rare Tri-ang Hornby R249F Exploding
Car with Acho Couplings. The model, which is khaki in
colour, is in excellent unsued and working condition. It dates
from 1967 or 1968 and comes in its original box which is in good
condition The box is a sandard window design with 'R249 WAGON
EXPLOSIF' printed on the end flaps.
According to the excellent book on the subject by Pat
Hammond, this items is one of only 2300 ever made with Acho
couplings. They were sent sent to the Meccano factory in France for
distribution in Europe. It is a 'must have' item for any serious
collector of this series, especially in this condition.
