Note: Split Cogs on Graham Farish Locomotives
Graham Farish locomotives, especially the diesel types, suffer badly
from split cogs on the rail wheel axle and in the intermediate gear
train in the bogies. This can result in the anything from a light
clicking sound as the locomotive moves around, to a completely locked
chassis. This problem mainly affects Poole built locomotives
with the black plastic cogs, although some Bachmann Farish models from
China also exhibit the same problem. Farish locomotives fitted
with Brass or White Nylon gears are unaffected. All of our Graham
Farish locomotives with black gears are checked for split cogs
prior to dispatch with any defective components being replaced.
